Cheryl Dunn

Bio

Cheryl Dunn is a New Yorkโ€“based photographer who has spent decades documenting the city's streets and the people who leave their mark on them โ€” graffiti writers, skaters, boxers, musicians, and protesters. Her images capture the highs and lows of urban life with an eye drawn to its extremes rather than its middle. She's published three books of photographs โ€” Bicycle Gangs of New York, Some Kinda Vocation, and Festivals are Good โ€” and shot campaigns for Nike, Adidas, Levi's, and Diesel. Her work has been exhibited at the Tate Modern, the Brooklyn Museum, and MoMA. Her filmmaking, including Everybody Street and Moments Like This Never Last, grew naturally out of the still image.
